I take privacy issues seriously so please read through this privacy policy carefully as it explains about my business, and how it collects, stores uses, and shares personal information. It also explains your rights with regard to your personal information, how to contact me, and how to contact the regulatory body (Information Commissioners Office) if you have a complaint.
Who is Sara Edlington?
I’m a sole-trader using my own name for my business, Sara Edlington, I’m committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of all who do business with me.
My business collects, uses, and is responsible for certain personal information about you. When I do this, I am regulated under UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018. I’m responsible as the ‘controller’ of that personal information for the purpose of those laws.
What information do I collect about you?
During the running of my business, I collect the following types of information from you when you give the information to me.
Name, contact details which may or may not include your business/work telephone number, business/work email address, and business/work postal address.
How my business uses your personal information
I collect information to allow me to provide you with my writing services and the records my business is legally required to maintain.
I don’t sell, rent or trade any information I hold about you to anyone else.
Who my business shares your information with
I share your information with law enforcement or regulatory bodies if required by law.
I will not share your information with any other third party.
Information provided by you
I need certain information from you such as contact details and postal address to be able to provide you my writing services. I only collect the information I need to be able to provide writing services to you.
How long I keep personal information
I hold your personal information, name, address, and contact details for a period of, currently, 6 years as required by UK tax legislation.
Marketing
I only send marketing materials to you if you say you want to receive them and if you want to opt-out of that at any time, you can do so.
Website
I don’t track or collect users directly from my website. I use a ‘click-through’ email address so that you can email me about the services I provide.
Cookies
These are small text files that are installed on your computer. I don’t use any type of tracking cookie on my website. The only cookies on my website are transient or session cookies. They are deleted once you close your browser and they don’t store anything that personally identifies you. They don’t collect any information and pass it to me.

Access to your information and making corrections
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to request a copy of the information I hold about you. Please send information so I can identify and confirm who you are such as a copy of your driving licence or the top part of a utility bill with your name and address on it.
I do my best to make sure the information I hold about you is correct, so if you find that information I hold about you is wrong, I will correct it.
I will reply to you as soon as I can and this will not take longer than 30 calendar days.
Your rights
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018 you have a number of important rights. In summary, those include rights to:
- fair processing of information and transparency over how we use your use personal information
- access to your personal information and to certain other supplementary information that this Privacy Notice is already designed to address
- require us to correct any mistakes in your information which we hold
- require the erasure of personal information concerning you in certain situations
- receive the personal information concerning you which you have provided to us, in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and have the right to transmit those data to a third party in certain situations
- object at any time to processing of personal information concerning you for direct marketing
- object to decisions being taken by automated means which produce legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affect you
- object in certain other situations to our continued processing of your personal information
- otherwise restrict our processing of your personal information in certain circumstances
- claim compensation for damages caused by our breach of any data protection laws

How I keep your personal information secure
I have appropriate security measures in place to prevent personal information from being accidentally lost or used or accessed in an unauthorised way.
I also have procedures in place to deal with any suspected data security breach. I will notify you and any applicable regulator of a suspected data security breach where I am legally required to do so.
How to complain
I hope that we can resolve any query or concern you raise about our use of your information.
The UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018 also gives you the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the area where you work, normally live, or where any alleged infringement of data protection laws occurred.
