Books by Sara Edlington
Though I’m a specialist cyber security and software writer, I also write about other topics.
I’ve written 14 books and I’m writing another one.
Yes, you did read that correctly.
While I was an internet marketing consultant, I was frustrated at the lack of books available with practical advice for small businesses – so I wrote one.
I believe that marketing ideas stand the test of time and it’s only the way we use them that changes.
After all, we’ve gone from paper to TV and radio, to the net, and now social media. However, the basis of marketing is the same, they haven’t changed, because they work.
This book went into a second edition.
My mother is a keen local historian for our nearest town, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. She wanted to bring her research on various subjects together for family historians and local historians.
I’ve written books on local schools, businesses (Rose Brothers and Marshalls, Sons & Company), about the local area, and local buildings.
Gainsborough is an interesting town. It was home to innovative engineering companies such as Marshalls and Rose Brothers. It’s steeped in history with Gainsborough Old Hall (well worth a visit) which hosted Henry VIII, its beautiful old Parish Church, amongst other places to visit and enjoy.
I’m Secretary of the Friends of Gainsborough Cemeteries and Chapel, a tiny charity that works to restore the headstones of WWI servicemen buried in two cemeteries in Gainsborough.
One of these cemeteries is a dedicated non-conformist one, still open and being used. Both cemeteries were open in the mid to late 1800s and are still being used.
I’m finished and editing the final book our WWI historian, Peter Bradshaw started, but was unable to finish before his passing in 2020.
I’m also researching and writing a book on the watercolour windmill artist, Karl Wood.
Karl was famous for cycling around the country during the 1930s and 1940s so he could create watercolour paintings of all the standing windmills in the United Kingdom.
